Just got back from Comic Con 2012 in glorious San Diego, California. First time going, first time going as part of the industry. Fascinating place, will definitely love to go again next year. Saw so much, met so many people and got so much random swag. Pick up a few posters, a few autographs, a few knick knacks here and there, and also gave out a few autographs (which I wasn’t expecting since I’m not credited with many works). Overall a great experience.

One panel I was at was the After Earth panel which is currently in post production and I will be contributing to in the coming year. Check out the trailer below!

I’ll be spending a day in Vegas, flying in from DC after a business trip to see the show for one entire day. Gonna be tiring, but I”m sure it’ll be interesting. If you don’t know what NAB is, it is a trade show sponsored by the National Association of Broadcasters and highlights technical innovations in digital and printed media. Should be a blast.

Headed to SXSW this year, very excited. This will be my first SXSW convention and I’m curious to see what all the fuss is about. If you don’t know what SXSW is, it stands for South by Southwest and it takes place in Austin, Texas each year. At least for the interactive secion SXSW is for up and coming technologies ranging from apps to new inovations to software. So unlike CES its not really about things that’ll come out later in the year, but what technologies they can show off and try to promote. One such company was Foursquare as well as Color (purchased by Facebook later). I’m only going for the interactive section of SXSW, a whole 2 weeks is a little more time then I can really devote to one convention. If you headed down to Austin this year and want to meet up and chat, let me know in an e-mail!

We’ve just announced our new January term at fxphd — check out the listing of our courses for full descriptions and a projected outline of the classes. Our orientation week video covering our new offerings will be released on Friday, January 6th.

New for the January term, members can choose one vault course as one of the three elective courses that come with the normal fxphd membership. This opens up an additional 33 courses for fxphd members!

As always, we’ve taken our member’s requests into account in building our curriculum and we have some great new courses (and profs).

This Christmas I’ll be heading to Chicago to wrap up another contract for another film again slated to be released later in 2012. Once this goes through I’ll be set in terms of work for 2012 and that should stop the constant traveling that I have had to endure over the past few months. Till then enjoy the trailer for one of the upcoming movies I’m working on!

So as of June 2011 CIS VFX has been merged with Method Studios forming a “power house” studio containing studios across the globe. The transition is finally complete and I am now working for Method Studios. Its fantastic to be working along side them! Make sure to check out some of the stuff Method has done below in their studio reel.

Downtown

Off to Boston for the next 3 days for some on set shooting for an upcoming indie movie produced by a few friends of mine. Should be blast, haven’t been to Boston since I was probably 12 or 13. I will post more details about the film when I legally can. Till then all this traveling is making me tired.
